More than just a race

So this is the moment that Millie and I ran hand-in-hand across the finish line.

Words cannot begin to describe how proud I am of her. She held my hand for the entire 5k, and we ran as one.

I was totally prepared for the run, I’ve been training for months. What I wasn’t prepared for all the other participants. Courageous and strong ladies, each one with their own story on their backs. Millie and I had decorated ours a few days before. Millie took so much care and attention over hers, beautiful detail and accuracy.

There were those who had lost so many friends and family, those who’s loved ones were battling and even those who were fighting cancer themselves. And such a beautiful sight to run behind ‘7 years clear!’.

This was so much more than a race, this was defiance. This was strength, hope and determination to draw us nearer to a cure for this disease that robs so many.

So thank you to everyone who has supported us, it really does mean the world to us. I can’t begin to tell you how encouraged and inspired Millie and I have been by your generosity.
